Canopy, orchids, monkeys and more In our exhibition you can see a large variety of Costa Rican wildlife, like the spectacular blue Morpho butterfly, the exotic poison frogs and brightly colors leaf frogs, the most flashy and venomous snakes, representatives species of monkeys and parrots, and the largest snakes in the world.
The Orchid family is the largest and most diverse of the flowering plant families, with over 25,000 species.
In Costa Rica there are close to 1,500 species. Our exhibition shows more than 40 species and includes the most representative, the guaria morada which is our national flower.
There are three families of monkeys in the New World with more than 50 species. Four species of monkeys are found in the forests of Costa Rica.
There are two of the most common and conspicuous species. Howler Monkey(Alouatta palliata) Local name: Mono Congo
